
The government has announced that the Christmas bonus, known as the salary for the 13th month, will begin to be paid to government employees from 5 December 2019. An extra RD$19.9 billion will go into circulation in December.
José Ramón Peralta, the administrative minister of the Presidency, said that this year, a loan will not be necessary. He confirmed that all public employees would have received their Christmas wages by 12 December.
Those to be paid first, on the orders of President Danilo Medina, will be the pensioners, members of the military, teachers and those working in the health sector.
