Over half a million have not renewed their stickers

The Dominican fleet of motor vehicles adds up to close to 1.4 million, yet as of last week, some 550,000 vehicular permits had not been renewed. The stickers authorize vehicles to circulate on Dominican roads. The tax is RD$1,500 for vehicles over five years old (up to 2014) and RD$3,000 for the newer vehicles.

After 16 December 2019 any vehicle without the new “marbete” will be pulled over by the Digesett officers, who will be looking out for those offenders. The vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense. And the price for the new sticker goes up a good deal.
