The Presidency awarded Minerva Emilia Pereyra on 6 December 2019 with the National Journalism Award. Pereyra is a veteran journalist and novelist. The award ceremony took place in the Ambassadors Hall of the Presidential Palace. The award recognized the writer’s 30-year track record and her strict adherence to ethical principles. She received an RD$1 million cash prize.
The Ministry of Education and the Dominican Journalists Guild organize the National Journalism Award. The award dates back to 1994 when it was created to recognize the life trajectory of a communications professional every year.
