Green March files complaint against Gonzalo Castillo

The Green March anti-corruption movement submitted a request for an investigation into alleged acts of corruption by Gonzalo Castillo when he was minister of Public Works. The complaint document was presented to the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Persecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) on 9 December 2019.

The instance presented by the Green March movement requests that Laura Guerrero, head of PEPCA, investigate documents signed by Maybeth Rodríguez Sánchez. Rodríguez Sánchez is the sister of Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez Sánchez.

The complaint signed by Carlos Briceño, Rafael Rivas Solano and Guadalupe Valdez San Pedro, members of the Green March, calls for investigations to be opened into the irregular assignment of public work contracting, made by Castillo in Public Works for nearly RD$11.5 billion. They also request an investigation into the US$14 million contracts signed by Rodríguez Sánchez.

Other calls for investigation by the judicial authorites have been made by Somos Pueblo and journalists Alicia Ortega and Marino Zapete. Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez is suing journalist Marino Zapete for presenting on his El Jarabe TV show evidence that Maybeth Rodríguez Sánchez had irregularly signed the contract works.
