The Dominican economy continues to grow

According to the Central Bank, the economy of the Dominican Republic continues to outperform the average GDP in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Gross Domestic Product grew 5.2% in October 2019, leading to the prediction of an estimated end of year figure of 5% of GDP.

The Central Bank says that growth would have been even higher if it were not for the negative campaign against tourism.

From January to October 2019, the economic growth was 4.8% despite 90% of the countries in the world being affected by a deceleration in economic activity due to socio-political problems and trade disputes.

The main growth sectors were construction with 14.9%, mining 10.4%, water and energy 7.6%, other service activities 7.6%, financial services 6.7%, real estate 5.1%, transport and warehousing 4.4%, and agriculture 4.3%.
