Citizen Participation and Transparency International recognize Juan Bolívar Díaz

On occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, journalist Juan Bolívar Díaz was honored by the civic watchdog groups Citizen Participation and Transparency International for his lifelong fight against corruption and impunity. Díaz has had a career of more than 50 years in print, radio and television. The award recognizes the social sensitivity that has always placed him on the side of defending the weakest social sectors of society, rejecting, denouncing and combating social injustices and abuses of power.

Luis Eduardo (Huchi) Lora presented the award and Edith Febles hosted the ceremony. The two are of the country’s most recognized anti-corruption journalists.

Juan Bolívar Díaz is a native of San Pedro de Macorís. He is a graduate of the Carlos Septién García School of Journalism in Mexico. In his outstanding journalistic career he has worked or collaborated with the following media: Radio HIN, Radio Cristal, Radio Comercial, Radio Popular, Firme weekly, El Sol newspaper, El Nuevo Diario newspaper, Rumbo magazine, Amigo del Hogar magazine, El Nacional and Hoy newspapers and the digital news platforms Clave Digital and Acento.com.do.

Likewise, Juan Bolívar Díaz has been a university professor of generations of journalists at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), teaching the subjects Interpretative Journalism, Opinion Journalism, among others.

During the ceremony, a video was presented where his wife, Ada Wiscovitch, among other relatives and friends, highlighted the virtues of Juan Bolívar Díaz. The activity was held in the Ricardo Michel Auditorium of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
