Lourdes Ventura at the New York Supreme Court

The daughter of Dominican migrants, Lourdes Ventura is the judge-elect of the New York Supreme Court 11th Judicial District who begins her term on 1 January 2020. She won in the general election on 5 November 2019 on the Democratic Party ticket.

Ventura is recognized for an exemplary career of strong leadership and service to the Queens community. Earlier in the year, she had received the Liberty Achievement Award. The award is bestowed by the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Section Conference in New York in partnership with Thomson Reuters. It is an annual award to lawyers and judges who demonstrate leadership by actively promoting diversity in the legal profession.
