Haitian diplomats scandals

Listín Diario reports on the continuing of investigations into possible corruption involving Haitian diplomatic and consular personnel in the Dominican Republic. As reported, Haiti’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) is seeking the arrest of several officials from the Haitian Embassy in Santo Domingo and has asked Foreign Minister Bocchit Edmond for cooperation in apprehending them and sending them to justice. Among the persecuted would be Yves Rody Jean, Judith Exavier, Kerby Alcante Desormaux or Kerby Alcántara Desormaux, the latter a dual Haitian and Dominican national.

On 7 December 2019, Haitian consul in Santiago Judith Exavier was arrested when returning to Haiti through the Jimaní-Malpasse border crossing point in a Lexus SUV (G-353903) that was allegedly under investigation by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) linked to the Cesar Emilio Peralta drug trafficking network.
