N Digital had identified the owner of the vehicle as Fernando Alfonso Castro Grau the owner of the Porsche that was photographed packed with Presidency Social Plan Christmas boxes. The photo circulated on social media. Castro Grau is on the 2016 Navy payroll as an honorary corporal. It is unknown why the trunk of his vehicle was loaded with the Christmas boxes. Nevertheless, follow up revealed he had sold the vehicle in 2017.
The vehicle apparently was driven by a blonde woman who was later identified by Somos Pueblo as Maria Mercedes Cabrera. Cabrera is on the payroll of the Ministry of Interior and Police. She is identified as an assistant to Minister Monchy Fadul, making RD$100,000 a month. Previously, she had been employed as assistant to Fadul when he was minister of Labor, making then RD$80,000 a month.
N Digital reports that since the beginning of December, social media has been sharing cases of the “illegal transfer” of government Christmas boxes. N Digital is requesting an explanation regarding why the Christmas boxes were being transported in a Porsche. The Christmas boxes are intended for social programs.
