
The Tax Agency (DGII) reports that 95.6% of vehicle owners had complied with the obligation established in Law 63-17 and secured their vehicular circulation tags. As of 2 January 2020, vehicle owners need to pay an RD$2,000 fine to get the sticker.
The DGII says that 1,314,150 vehicles had obtained the tags, representing 95.6% of the total of 1,374,231 units in DGII records. The government reports collecting RD$2.18 billion of a total RD$2.25 billion.
The DGII says that vehicle owners of 60,081 units still have to get the tags, equivalent to 4.4% of the total that needs to be purchased.
