Carolina Mejía proposes more participation of the people in city government

Over the Three Kings Day weekend, Carolina Mejía, the candidate for mayor of the National District for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) said she will give more participation to the people of the city in the management of the National District. She spoke when in La Zurza, a low-income area of the city. She said that by listening to the people who live in vulnerable situations, the real needs of the community can be addressed, “as Mayor David Collado has been doing.” Incumbent Mayor David Collado is backing her aspirations to be mayor for the same political party.

On Sunday, 6 January, Mejía participated in the San Carleños Ausentes activity in the San Carlos sector and ended her tour in Guachupita in a 3×3 basketball tournament, as part of her commitment to promote healthy recreation.

Carolina Mejía, who is the PRM secretary-general, has just two months to position her candidacy for National District Mayor for the party. Mejía has bet on capitalizing on the high standing of incumbent Mayor David Collado (of the same political party) to be able to win the position in the 16 February 2020 election.

Mejía announced her aspirations after Mayor David Collado declined on 9 December 2019 to run for reelection in early December. Polls had showed he was likely to be re-elected.
