
Rosa Maria Kasse Soto, of the International Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Education, said that the government will reinforce public schools that have shown vulnerabilities in their construction. The strengthening of the public schools is in prevention of damages these may suffer during earthquakes or hurricanes.
She announced one of the goals of her department is to convert several high schools into polytechnical centers so that students can graduate with a technical career and immediately find jobs in the labor market while they continue their studies.
The program has the backing of the InterAmerican Development Bank, the World Bank and the European Union.
