
Domingo Contreras running for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Hugo Beras for the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Johnny Ventura for the People’s Force (FP) and Bartolomé Pujals for Party Alliance (Al Pais) met with Piantini neighborhood members on Tuesday, 14 January 2020. Of the leading city contenders, only Carolina Mejía of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) was missing. The event took place at the Club Paraiso in the upscale city neighborhood.
The candidates each gave their position on public safety, traffic, tree planting, health and environment, urban planning and land use, compliance with laws and regulations, among others.
Zoraida Alonzo, president of the Piantini Neighborhood Board, thanked the candidates for accepting the invitation to speak to area residents so they could cast a better-informed vote.
She said the neighborhood group is interested in learning about the actions to be taken by the aspiring mayors. The group expressed its interest that the next city government work hand-in-hand with the community organizations to defend the rule of law, guarantee the quality of life and sustainable development of the capital city.
