Debates among the candidates for mayor for the four municipalities of Greater Santo Domingo begin on 27 January 2020, announced the organizers of the discussions, the Social and Economic Development Council of Santo Domingo (Consejo de Desarrollo Economico y Social de Santo Domingo). The event has the backing of the El Nuevo Diario media group. The entity says they have the backing of the organizers of the municipal election, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the Citizen Participation, civic watchdog group.
Codessd says the first to debate are the candidates seeking the mayor position in Santo Domingo North.
The debates are scheduled for 27 to 30 January and from 3 to 6 February. The dates for the debates for candidates to mayor for Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo West and the National District are yet to be announced.
