Miguel Angel García, information technology (IT) director for the Central Electoral Board (JCE), says that on average citizens will take 45 seconds to vote using the automated system. The duration was determined during the Sunday, 19 January 2020 pilot testing carried out to prepare for the 16 February municipal election.
The system now requires after the vote is closed for a manual vote count of vouchers to be taken to confirm the automated system totals before sending the sums for streaming nationwide.
The mayors elected on 16 February 2020 will be sworn in on 24 April to begin their term.
