Vice President Margarita Cedeño is back on the campaign trail. She is a two-term Vice President under the Medina administration. On several occasions, she has aspired to be the presidential candidate for the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
As reported she was in Guerra to express her support for the municipal candidate, Deny Reyes. But the media focused on the Vice President herself. Usually seen in formal attire at the Presidential Palace, this time around the Vice President was in jeans, attired with a purple shirt with her own name “Margarita” and distributing propaganda for her own cause.
Cedeño, who is the wife of former President Leonel Fernández, served three terms as First Lady. During the campaign to choose the presidential candidate for the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) she endorsed the campaign of her husband, Leonel Fernández. After he claimed there was fraud in the PLD primary and split the party in two, forming La Fuerza del Pueblo, Cedeño chose to remain in the PLD.
