The Dominican Republic exported US$4.23 million in paper and cardboard products, and steel products reached US$930,000. This is a brand new export for the Dominican Republic, says the Center for Exports and Investment (CEI-RD).
Although gold, circuit breakers, medical instruments and devices continue to dominate exports, the new products are opening the way for more investment and innovation. During 2019 total exports reached US$11.423 billion, a 4.7% increase over 2018.
The leading Dominican exports were gold, cigars, circuit breakers, medical instruments, jewelry, and ferronickel. Most of the exports went to the United States (US$5.1 billion), Haiti (US$827 million), Switzerland (US$784 million), Puerto Rico (US$501 million) and India (US$421 million).
