If the Dominican government manages to evacuate and bring back the five Dominican students who are in Wuhan, China, they will be placed in quarantine, under observation, until it is proven that they are not infected with the virus. Public Health Minister Dr. Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas made the announcement. He said efforts to evacuate them are being handled by the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
Dr. Sánchez Cárdenas said the protocol calls for the students, once arriving to the airport, to be taken directly to where tests and assessments will be carried out until the incubation period of the virus has passed, which is usually up to 14 days.
The Health Minister was interviewed when at the Dominican Medical Association (CMD), where he signed an agreement with the president of the association, Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, that contains 13 points, including pensions, a commitment to joint efforts to achieve a salary increase by 2021, the establishment of primary care in the subsidized regime and the promotion of research, among others.
