
The president of the Dominican Republic Association of Industries (AIRD) Celso Juan Marranzini called President Danilo Medina’s two-hour speech on Independence Day positive yet lacking in some areas. He said the President failed to address challenges that need to be resolved to maintain sustainable growth.
He pointed out that the President stressed the advances and growth in areas such as tourism and the industrial free zones. But he said the country needs to give priority to local industry. He said this means Congress needs to pass a bill that amends the present pro-industry law.
