
Public school classes were suspended in Puerto Plata city after intense rains caused flooding of city streets. The heavy rains have been falling in Puerto Plata since Saturday, 29 February 2020.
The Provincial Committee for Disaster Mitigation and Response headed by Governor Iván Rivera was activated and together with the Civil Defense they have been monitoring the situation. Trees felled by the rains have been removed on the Malecón and Hermanas Mirabal Avenue. Intense flooding in Maranatha and Buena Vista neighborhoods.
The weather bureau has reported the rains will continue nationwide on Wednesday, 4 March 2020.
