The Ministry of Public Health has habilitated telephone lines for calls regarding possible cases of Covid-19. The Ministry of Public Health said on 11 March 2020 that so far the five confirmed Covid-19 cases have all been of persons who were abroad when they caught the disease.
People can call 809 686-9140, or 809 200-4091 for toll free calls from provinces from 8am to 8pm. There is also a Whatsapp telephone at 829 542-7009.
The Ministry of Public Health is educating Dominicans to differentiate between the symptoms of a common cold, influenza and the Covid-19 virus to act accordingly.
Symptoms of the common cold are coughing, nasal congestion, sneezing, sore throat. Symptoms of the flu are fever, coughing, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue. Symptoms of Covid-19 are fever, coughing, respiratory difficulties, yellow-green phlegm, fatigue, spot showing on x-ray.
