As of Wednesday, 11 March, no new confirmed cases of Covid-19

Public Health Minister Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas reported on Wednesday, 11 March 2020 that the tests carried out on people suspect of carrying the coronavirus have all been negative. These include people who were in isolation, such as the taxi driver in Puerto Plata and a Spanish citizen. Sánchez Cárdenas said the Belgian citizen who died in Higuey tested negative. It was determined he died from complications from diabetes and hypertension. He said that to date, there are no cases of community transmission of the virus.

The Ministry of Public Health says that 48 persons are suspect of having the disease. The persons who have tested positive are kept at the Ramón de Lara Hospital in the San Isidro Air Force Base. It says it has confirmed five cases of Covid-19 in the country.
