“Today [Sunday, 22 March 2020] I received the results of the test for Covid-19, and I’m positive, I still don’t have any symptoms. I urge Dominicans to follow the health instructions and the established protocol. With the help of God, we will get ahead,” the Foreign Minister said on Twitter. Miguel Vargas Maldonado is 69 years old.
The Foreign Minister had reported last Friday that one of his three children, Miguel Paúl Vargas García, tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus after attending a wedding in Cap Cana on 14 March 2020. Dozens of persons who attended that wedding have tested positive.
Public Health Minister Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas announced on Sunday, 22 March 2020, that the Dominican Republic had 202 positive cases of coronavirus and three registered deaths.
