
The Medina government issued Decree 136-20 banning telecom companies from cutting their customers off for arrears in payments or from applying late charges. In the same decree issued on Monday, 23 March 2020 in the evening, the government also banned social gatherings and the consumption of alcoholic beverages in neighborhood shops, or “colmados.” The stores have been allowed to stay open to sell food and other essential items for home consumption.
“We insist, this is not a vacation; the population must remain in their homes,” said Presidency Minister Gustavo Montalvo who is the coordinator of the High Commission for the Prevention of Coronavirus.
The new measures were announced on Monday evening.
