The Dominican Republic will participate from the 24-28 January in the Spanish tourism fair, Feria Internacional de Turismo (Fitur) 1996 that opens in Madrid. The Dominican delegation is being organized by the Ministry of Tourism with the help of the private sector and will be headed by Alba Lisa Alvarez and Fernando Nuñez from the Ministry. Some 4,000 companies from 200 countries will be exhibiting at the show that begins the tourism trade season of the year.
Fitur is being held at the Parque Ferial Juan Carlos. This year star Dominican merengue performer, Miriam Cruz, will sing at the stand on the final two days of the event, Saturday, 27 January and Sunday, 28 January. Her performance is expected to be the main attraction of the entire event.
