Dominican airline discontinues operations

Aerotours Dominicana has ceased to operate, closing its offices and suspending employees. The company’s principal executive was Marina Ginebra de Bonnelly. Aerotours closed its operations at the Las Americas International Airport, canceling regular flights to Curacao. A report in Hoy by Santiago Gómez said that Aerotours Dominicana owed US$3 million to the lessor of the jet airliner it employed to fly its routes and, as a consequence, the airplane was detained in Curacao. Aerotours Dominicana originally operated to Panama, but encountered limitations by that country that obliged it to try and exploit new routes.
