The Minister of Tourism, Frank Jorge Elias, took advantage of his visit to Russia to request the country re-establish the scholarship program it maintained for Dominicans and eliminate the visa requirement for Dominican visitors. He said that Sergei Shpilko, the vice minister for Tourism and Sports, informed him that the visa requirement would be abolished, as Russians are not asked to obtain visas to visit the D.R. Mr Frank Jorge Elias was attending the MITT ’96 travel trade show.
