Aces, the Colombian airline, is scheduled to start flying to Puerto Plata from Bogotá as of 9 December. The announcement was made by its president, Juan Emilio Posada, who came with a group of airline executives to meet with Puerto Plata hoteliers and study the market. He commented that since Colombians only know Santo Domingo as a holiday area, the time is now ripe to develop the north coast as a destination. He said that the main attractions for Colombians is the friendliness and courtesy of the people, the efficient service, and the beauty of the area.
hey have plans to start with a weekly flight that could be built up to add more as the demand picks up. He said they have yet to get the approval of the Colombian and Dominican governments. Their interest in flying to the Dominican Republic has the support of the Ministry of Tourism. Deputy Secretary César José de los Santos met the mission in Puerto Plata.
