
A report in Diario Libre on 23 April indicates that farmers in Constanza valley have not found markets for their fresh produce. The president of the National Union of Farm Producers (Unaproda), Pantaleon Cepeda says that 90% of the fresh produce will be lost. He says that the recently announced measures by the government that it would purchase fresh produce for channeling to low-income people benefits those who produce in greenhouses. He said tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and cabbage are turning to waste because the supermarkets have reduced their hours.
