The National Police reported the arrest of 16 people in Cotui, Sánchez Ramírez province for bathing in a river in a rural community near the city. The Police said the youths were disrespecting the order to keep social distancing during the Covid-19 epidemic.
Colonel José Francisco de la Cruz, police commander in the province of Sanchez Ramírez, informed they would be sent to justice.
The police operation was carried out in the “El Cercado” river in the community of La Laguna, in the municipal district of Zambrana. Among the arrests are women, men and three children.
The province of Sánchez Ramírez is 9th in number of diagnosed cases of Covid-19. As of yesterday, 6 new cases were detected.
The restrictive measures in place ban people from visiting recreational sites, including rivers, beaches, sports facilities.
Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí) has 133 diagnosed coronavirus cases, including 6 new cases and 6 deaths.
