Before and after photos of 62-year old Italian Claudio Pascualini would have made any men’s health magazine. The now slim and young-looking Pascualini looks much better than in the first photo with a potbelly that was taken when he had recently been admitted to the Ramón de Lara Hospital at the San Isidro Air Base.
After 54 days hospitalized at the Ramón de Lara, the Dominican Republic’s Covid-19 patient zero was cleared to go home on 21 April 2020. The Ministry of Public Health said he is the patient in the Dominican Republic who had been tested the most. He just kept on testing positive to the PCR diagnostic tests. The protocol establishes to be discharged, a patient needs to show two negative tests.
In an interview with Telemicro, Channel 5, he said there was a time when he thought he would not make it out of the country alive. He was all appreciation to the healthcare workers at the hospital. He said he looks forward to taking a shower, seeing the blue skies and his family. He observed that once he gets back to Italy, he would have to remain 14 days in a quarantine hotel before returning to his family.
