The new mayor of the municipality of Santo Domingo Este (SDE), singer-composer-politician Manuel Jiménez of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) says he takes on the challenge of building the municipality that the people deserve.
Jiménez was emphatic in pointing out that he begins at a city hall that has the most problems and during the worst pandemic in centuries. He said he is used to challenges. He called for unity to turn Santo Domingo East into the most beautiful and organized city. He said he will do this with creativity and transparency in his government. “Since the victory has been collective, the commitment must be collective,” Jiménez said.
Jiménez assumed the city government on 24 April 2020, after winning the election on 15 March 2020. Reports are that his predecessor left him arrears of RD$700 million.
