The Comptroller General’s Office responded to the request made by the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) for a detailed report on the purchases and contracting of goods and services made during the state of emergency by stating that the legal deadlines established for the companies and government entities to deliver the report have not yet expired.
Comptroller General Daniel Omar Caamaño Santana says the law requires that the government submit the reports on the procurement operations 15 days after the reason originating the national state of emergency have ended. Caamaño said that since the State of Emergency is still in effect, the institutions that have benefited from emergency procurement status continue to have up to 15 days after the conclusion of the situation to submit their reports.
The government entity informed said the PRM must wait for the legal deadlines established for the corresponding purposes to expire.
The PRM has been providing evidence of overpricing and contracting to intermediaries that were previously not known as medical suppliers or food suppliers to the state.
