The Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) reports that on Friday, 24 April 2020 it received the second 376 MW unit of the coal-fired Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTPC) from the builders, the Odebrecht-Tecnimont-Estrella construction consortium. The entity had already delivered a first 376 megawatt unit in December. The second unit was operating on a trial basis.
The executive vice-president of the CDEEE, Rubén Jiménez Bichara, expressed his satisfaction for what he describes as the successful completion of the construction of this power plant that was built to contribute around 720 megawatts to the national power grid (SENI).
The CDEEE received the unit after the government and the Odebrecht-Tecnimont-Estrella consortium reached an agreement this March to resolve the disputes and guarantee the completion and final delivery of the thermoelectric plant.
