Aerodom operates the international airports in Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata and Samana. Now the Vinci Airports operator says it is working on reinstating flight operations after almost two months shutdown of all flights but special charters for repatriation of foreign nationals.
Monika Infante, director for Vinci Airports in the country, announced the plan is to reactivate operations as soon as possible. The plan will ensure the health and safety of passengers and employees at the airports and is part of the new normal for travel around the world.
“Aerodom, as part of Vinci Airports, has focused and continues to focus on the development of a complete recovery plan covering issues such as health and sanitation measures and the resumption of operations, once the Dominican authorities establish the process and conditions to be applied by the transportation industry,” she said in the statement.
“As an airport operator, we are aware that it is necessary for airports, authorities and airlines to do everything possible so that when operations are restarted, the risk of another outbreak is avoided and, consequently, it will be necessary to introduce or reintroduce additional restrictions,” she said:
The company is awaiting feedback from the authorities on these issues. The new normal would mean mandatory use of masks by passengers, a proposal for the implementation of physical distance on queues, use of protective screens between passengers and employees, and monitoring of the flow of people to reduce density at the airport.
