
According to Coronavirus Bulletin #62 of the Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology, the Dominican Republic has 13,477 confirmed cases, 254 new confirmed cases and 446 deaths, including 5 new deaths. There are 2,066 patients are hospitalized, including 126 patients in intensive care units. The results are from 59,976 PCR diagnostic tests.

The Pan American Health Organization says that the country needs to continue to show consistency in testing before easing further activity restrictions.
The statistical reports do not include results from rapid response blood antibody tests or patients diagnosed with tomography or other means. The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million people.
As of Tuesday, 19 May 2020 at 6pm, the most confirmed cases continue to be reported in the National District and Santo Domingo Province, Santiago, La Vega, Duarte, San Cristobal, Espaillat, La Romana, Puerto Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Hermanas Mirabal and La Altagracia. All other provinces report 200 or less cases.
The largest increases in new confirmed cases were reported for Santo Domingo Province (89), the National District (67), San Cristóbal (25), Espaillat / Moca (13), Santiago (10), La Romana (8), Valverde (8), Sánchez Ramírez (6), La Altagracia (5), Barahona (5), Azua (4), Monte Plata (4), La Vega (3), San Pedro de Macorís (2), Duarte (2), and San Juan de la Maguana (2). The Ministry of Public Health reports 1 or less confirmed cases in 15 other provinces.

In the Americas, the Dominican Republic is ranked 9th in confirmed cases after the United States, Brazil, Peru, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia. In the Caribbean and Central America, the Dominican Republic has the most confirmed cases.
