Central Bank sterilizes currency with UV rays

The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic has begun a process to sterilize money in circulation in the country. The Central Bank reports the purchase of a state-of-the-art machine that uses germicidal ultraviolet light (UVC). The Central Bank governor, Hector Valdez Albizu, gave the official start to the process with the push of a button last week. The China-made equipment is also being installed in the Central Bank office in Santiago de los Caballeros.
