Dominican Republic – Coronavirus Covid-19: Bulletin #73/30 May 2020

According to Coronavirus Bulletin #73 of the Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology, the Dominican Republic has 17,285 confirmed cases, 377 new confirmed cases and 502 deaths, including 4 new deaths. 1,960 patients are hospitalized. 110 patients are in intensive care units. The results are from 81,647 PCR diagnostic tests.

The Pan American Health Organization says that the country needs to continue to show consistency in testing before further easing activity restrictions.

The statistical reports do not include results from rapid response blood antibody tests or patients diagnosed with tomography or other means. The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million people.

As of Saturday, 30 May 2020 at 6pm, the most confirmed cases continue to be reported in the Santo Domingo Province and the National District (around 50%), Santiago, San Cristobal, La Vega, Duarte (San Francisco de Macorís), Espaillat, La Romana, La Altagracia (Higuey, Verón, Punta Cana), Puerto Plata, Monseñor Nouel (Bonao), Azua and Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí) and Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo). The other provinces report 200 or less cases.

The largest increases in new confirmed cases were reported for the Santo Domingo Province (114), National District (85), Azua (22), Santiago (19), San Cristóbal (18), La Altagracia (15), La Romana (11), Barahona (7), La Vega (7), Duarte (6), San Pedro de Macorís (4), Sánchez Ramírez (3) and Puerto Plata (3), San José de Ocoa (3) and Valverde (2). The Ministry of Public Health reports 1 or less confirmed cases in 17 of 31 provinces and the National District. Greater Santo Domingo (National District and Santo Domingo Province) has around 50% of all cases nationwide.

National District: 4,435 cases, 85 new cases, 74 deaths

Santiago: 1,465 cases, 19 new cases, 75 deaths

San Cristóbal: 1,016 cases, 18 new cases, 21 deaths

La Vega: 903 cases, 7 new cases, 28 deaths

Duarte (San Francisco de Macorís): 794 cases, 6 new cases, 84 deaths

Espaillat (Moca, Gaspar Hernández): 563 cases, 8 deaths

La Romana: 498 cases, 11 new cases, 10 deaths

Puerto Plata: 365 cases, 3 new cases, 23 deaths

La Altagracia (Higuey, Verón, Punta Cana): 380 cases, 15 new cases, 2 deaths

Monseñor Nouel (Bonao): 342 cases, 4 deaths

Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí): 254 cases, 3 new cases, 8 deaths

Hermanas Mirabal / Salcedo: 239 cases, 15 deaths

In the Americas, the Dominican Republic is ranked 9th in confirmed cases after the United States, Brazil, Peru, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia.
