Vice President Margarita Cedeño announced her office has received RD$5 million from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to strengthen the Dominican government’s “Stay Home” program and address economic and social consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As reported, the funds were distributed to 2,700 households with children under five years old with disabilities as identified by the government’s Unique System of Beneficiaries (SIUBEN). The funds were distributed through complementary cash transfers administered by the governmental Administrator of Social Subsidies (ADESS). The funds were also used to fund a digital campaign whereby mass mini-messages were sent out notifying hundreds of new families, to inform them about their inclusion in the social initiative.
