Tee off at Casa de Campo in just two weeks. Now lessons, practice on the driving range and the junior program are being reactivated, following new golf playing protocols. There are plans to gradually reopen the other courses, with a second course opening, planned for 13 July. Play will be from 8 to 5pm, and may continue into the early evening hours, now that the curfew has been extended to 8pm.
The golf shop will be open, but there will be no returns, nor will people be able to try anything on. Clubs can be rented. They are sanitized before and after each play.
The caddy continues to be mandatory. If a guest does not want a caddie to be part of their game, the caddie will walk 25 yards behind the group to care for the course as players play. Appreciative golfers are welcome to leave a tip for the caddie in a box that will be provided. Golfers are required to carry their own bags and clubs and limit contact from employees touching their equipment.
A touchless ball retrieving mechanism has been installed. Golf carts are sanitized before and after each service. From 1 July until early October, individual carts will be available. Family members can share a cart. By October, plastic dividers for the golf carts will separate the driver and passenger.
The good news, too, is that Minitas Beach is also opening. Sun-loungers in beach and pool areas are arranged in a way that respects physical distancing guidelines. Deep cleaning of chaise lounges, tables and umbrellas will be routine every day before the start of beach and pool operations. The number of sun loungers and umbrellas will be limited and monitored within each area. Maximum beach capacity is being reduced to assist with physical distancing guidelines. Beach towels will no longer be provided at the beach or in pool areas.
