The authorities announced the arrest of Andy Sáanchez Doñé, accused of murder of an opposition party activist 55-year old Julio Pérez Valdez on Sunday, 5 July during the presidential and congressional election. National Police agents reportedly arrested Sánchez Doñé at home in the Capotillo sector. He was a fugitive from justice since the day of the killing. The unfortunate event occurred in front of the Politécnico Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Two other people were injured.
Sánchez Doñé served as bodyguard of the administrator of the Moscoso Puello public hospital, Gelpi Polanco Gómez. The investigators say the bullets weren’t intended for Pérez Valdez. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. According to the file, Polanco Gómez was ordered to serve a three-month preventive detention at the Victoria Jail.
The National District prosecutors understand there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate the involvement of Polanco Gómez.
