Protected areas reopened; beach swimming okay, not in lagoons

The Ministry of Environment announced protected areas and parks are authorized to open. Environment Minister Angel Estevez said that a protocol has been established for visits of domestic and foreigners. Bathing in rivers and lagoons is banned, not so beach outings. 

The visits are allowed on Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 to 2pm. The announcement facilitates the resuming of popular tourism excursions, 

Southeast and East:

Saona Island and Palmilla Beach in La Altagracia

Isla Catalina in La Romana

Cuevas Las Maravillas in La Romana 

Northeast / Samana:

Cabo Francés Viejo and Gran Estero in Maria Trinidad Sánchez

Los Haitises National Park, Cabo Cabrón, Samaná National Park, Cayo Levantado and Cayo Farola in Samaná province

Puerto Plata:

Estero Hondo Marine Mammal Sanctuary

Silver Banks and Navidad Banks 

Loma Isabel de Torres 

Cayo Arena 

Northwest:

The Montecristi National Underwater Park

El Morro National Park

Cayo 7 Hermanos out islands 

Central Mountain Range: 

Valle Nuevo. Overnight stays only in the Villa Pajón lodging area of Constanza. 

Ebano Verde Scientific Reserve in Constanza.  

In the South and Southwest:

Reserva Antropológica Cuevas de Borbón (Cuevas Pomier) in San Cristóbal

Las Calderas Dunes in Peravia

Enriquillo Lake and Isla Cabritos in Independencia province Jaragua National Park in Pedernales
