After a week of a lull in testing, Health Minister says that a batch of 100,000 PCR kits has arrived, and the plan is to step up testing to 7,000-10,000 a day. The plan is for the number of tests to double or triple.
Initially, the tests will be carried out at the governmental Laboratorio Nacional Dr. Defilló and at three private laboratories — Referencia, Amadita and Patria Rivas.
Health Minister Plutarco Arias said the government plans to carry out 900,000 tests from August to December 2020. In addition to the first batch of 100,000 and another 100,000 batch of PCR tests, the government is contracting to purchase 500,000 Israeli breathalyzer tests. Plutarco made the remarks when interviewed when visiting the Bonao public hospital.
