
Marcio Juliano, director general for Presidente beer in the Dominican Republic, says that beer sales collapsed 70% in March and April of this year. He made the remarks when inaugurating a new distribution center the Cervecería Nacional Dominicana has opened in Sánchez, in Samana province.
Since May, Juliano said sales have gradually recovered, but these have not reached volumes of this time last year. He said sales will depend on the recovery of the tourism industry and the economy in general.
Vice President Raquel Peña and Industry & Commerce Minister Victor (Ito) Bisonó attended the inauguration for the Abinader administration.
The new center will provide better service to the province of Samana. It employs 124 persons. The investment was US$8.6 million.
