The corpse of Air Force colonel Rolando Martínez Martínez, who had been reported missing, was found in his parked vehicle in the Los Pinos neighborhood in Arroyo Hondo, Santo Domingo. Reportedly, he left letters explaining the situation. The family said Martínez suffered from depression. The family, nevertheless, said they never expected the outcome.
Police spokesperson Frank Felix Duran Mejía said all evidence seems to indicate the colonel shot himself in the head. The corpse was found on Saturday. He had been missing since Thursday. He was buried on Sunday.
