
From April to June 2019, there were 496 traffic fatalities. For the same period this year, there were 332 fatalities. While still a stupidly high number, the 2020 tally is 164 fewer deaths compared to 2019. According to the Ground Transportation and Traffic Safety Agency (Digesett), the reason for this decrease in road deaths is the nationwide lockdown in place since 17 March as part of the national effort to control the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
