
The Ministry of Public Health issued its first tourism destination bulletin on Monday, 22 September 2020. The bulletins seek to follow up on the spread of Covid-19 in tourist destinations and report on the cases of the virus detected at the international airports.
The Ministry of Public Health reports that those testing positive in the tourism destinations make up 0.8% of confirmed cases for the past week.
The bulletin breaks down the statistics by tourism poles. These are:
Sosúa-Cabarete (Puerto Plata)
Las Terrenas (Samaná)
Verón-Punta Cana (La Altagracia)
Juan Dolio (San Pedro de Macorís)
Overall, the total of new cases for the past week is 36. The total of deaths is two persons. The total accumulated deaths since March is 227.
The first bulletin reports that only at the Las Americas International Airport, that serves the capital city, were two cases detected. Of a total of 35,654 passengers, 901 random tests were carried out. Two persons tested positive.
In Punta Cana International Airport (La Altagracia province) there were 9,992 passengers, and 822 random rapid tests. There were no positive cases.
There were 2,141 arrivals to Puerto Plata International Airport, of which 102 random rapid tests. There were no positive cases.
