President Luis Abinader visited Pinewood studios in Juan Dolio this Sunday to show his government’s support to the film industry in the Dominican Republic. In a meeting with Juan Aguerrevere, CEO of Lantica Media and manager of MediaNet Partners, President Abinader expressed full support to efforts to attract foreign film productions. Present were several government ministers. President Abinader said the government will give the necessary support so that international production companies can take advantage of the Dominican Film Law’s incentives.
As reported, Aguerrevere explained to the President and the officials the significant growth that the industry has experienced in recent years. He announced that two major US productions for more than US$100 million are in the works starting November 2020.
Felipe Vicini, member of Lantica Media’s board, hosted President Abinader as he toured the facilities of Pinewood Dominican Republic.
“We must continue to promote the Dominican Republic as an international film destination because this has a positive impact on the economy and also favors the country in terms of tourism, which is one of the most important productive sectors,” said Vicini.
Abinader acknowledged Lantica Media for its strategic role in positioning the country as a film destination.
