Easier to drive into Santo Domingo from the north

The authorities expect a pilot traffic program to bring relief to those accustomed to turtle pace driving as they commute into the National District from northern Santo Domingo. The Ministry of Public Works and the National Institute of Traffic and Ground Transport (Intrant) have set up a counterflow lane between Km 14 and Km 9, where John F. Kennedy and Luperón avenues meet, to reduce peak hour bottlenecks.

The Santo Domingo West mayor’s office is also participating in the effort. The mobility pilot test express lane is open Monday to Friday from 6am to 7:30am.
