
After obtaining certifications from the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Health Department of the Government of Puerto Rico and Dominican Port Authority and Ministry of Public Health, the MV Kydon ferry to Puerto Rico is back in operation. This week it successfully made its first three trips.
Jonathan Marcano, general manager of Ferries del Caribe explained that the ship will continue to dock at the same Don Diego Terminal in San Souci in historic section of Santo Domingo. The ship is keeping to its regular itinerary with arrivals on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Departures are on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
Dominican Port Authority director, Jean Luis Rodríguez visited the ship on Thursday, 12 November 2020 to see for himself the protocols being implemented.
“After the lifting of the measure for the entry of cruise ships into the country, it is very important for us to verify the handling and know first-hand the protocols carried out by this cruise line” said Jean Luis Rodriguez, executive director of the Port Authority.
Alejandro Campos, president of the Presidential Commission for the Modernization and Security of Ports added: “Guaranteeing the faithful fulfillment of these protocols increases the climate of confidence for the investment in the area of tourism of cruises and ports in the country. We are pleased to see during this tour the seriousness with which the subject is taken, which assures that we are ready and prepared to receive cruisers for the rest of the year and for 2021.”
